3 Ways To Get Started! ››

Restaurant using Phone On Hold Messaging to promote their business

Like snowflakes, no two restaurants are alike. Each has something unique to offer in cuisine, style, ambiance, and personality.

At On Hold Marketing, we want to know who you are and what makes you special. From Le Bernardin to Capital Grille, from the Uno Chicago Grill to Fornino’s Italian Pizzeria, we will capture the "flavor" of your restaurant.

In order to serve you, we need to know who you are and what clientele you are interested in attracting.
Are you a:

  • Formal or Chef-Driven Restaurant
  • Family/Casual Dining Establishment
  • Caterer
  • Bar & Grill
  • Take-out

Restaurants are social places so it makes sense that social media should be a key part of your on hold message. Encourage customers to:

  • Like you on Facebook
  • Follow you on Twitter
  • Visit your Google+ page
  • Foursquare
  • Read blog posts
  • Post testimonials on review websites

Your website is your "home away from home." Draw customers in with up to date information, menus, special events and more.
If you offer any of the following on line, we should be promoting it:

  • Downloadable Coupons
  • Ordering and Reservations
  • Calendar of Events
  • Membership Rewards Program
  • Gift Certificates
  • Fund-raising programs

Holidays are primetime for restaurants. Let callers know well ahead of time what you have to offer so they can make plans with you.
Do you have special menus or events for:

  • Valentine’s Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Mother’s Day
  • New Year’s Eve
  • Superbowl Sunday

Extras often make the difference in the choice of a restaurant. Grab your caller’s attention with information on daily specials, entertainment and themes.
Do you feature:

  • Live Music
  • Big Screen TVs
  • Happy Hour
  • Express Lunch
  • Pasta Mondays
  • Wine Dinners

Your callers will be interested to know that you have the facilities to host personal or corporate events and private parties. Be sure to include any conveniences such as an event planning services, corporate accounts, and adequate parking.
Invite your callers to choose you for:

  • Baby and Wedding showers
  • Birthday and Anniversary parties
  • Holiday gatherings
  • Recognition Dinners
  • Business or Organization meetings

Take out and delivery services are always welcome for people on the go. Let your callers know they can enjoy their favorite foods at their homes, offices or any other location.
Tempt them with:

  • Appetizers
  • Drinks
  • Dessert Items
  • Specialty sandwiches
  • Convenient on-site delivery
  • Online ordering options

Be sure to include the basics in your on hold message. Provide callers with your location including any landmarks that will help them find you easily and include your hours of operation.

Seasonal Marketing Calendar Tips

Please note that the chart below contains calendar specific talking points and ideas. The best results will come when you complete your person to person interview with an On Hold Marketing consultant. You may also change your message more frequently if it better meets your marketing needs. We will take the work off your desk!

Beginning Jan 1

Happy New Year, Football specials, Valentines Day Romance Packages, Local St. Patty’s Day Celebration, Mardi Gras Themed Celebration for February and more. Is your restaurant particularly beautiful in the June and July wedding season? Now is the time to tell newly-engaged guests about your services for private events or large bookings. Winter menu: warm soups; specials; stews, etc. Entertainment? Take Out or delivery available? This is important during the winter months.

Beginning April 1

Now is a good time to encourage making Easter, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day reservations. Is your restaurant well suited for showers, graduations, communion and all types of memorable celebration? We want to be sure to mention that. Do you have outdoor seating when the weather gets warmer? Mention Spring appropriate cuisine. If you have a "light" menu: sell it now! Bikini season is coming and some of your guests will appreciate lighter options.

mid June/early July

Your guests want to step out to cool off and enjoy their hot summer nights. Offer the most tempting summer meals on your menu. Specialty cold drinks; ice cream desserts and salads made of all their favorite summer vegetables. Promote any outdoor seating that you may have. Happy hour is big in the summer for most restaurants. Make sure your callers know about all your happy hour specials and their specific hours.

early September

Our restaurant clients keep us very busy in September. This is a very popular time to begin taking reservations and bookings for holiday events. If promoted correctly you can have your private rooms booked by October! If you are open for major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Eve, encourage your callers to make a reservation early. You can also take about Football and Happy Hour Specials.

Please keep in mind that the aforementioned tips are meant to be a guide.
Every restaurant is completely different and everything from neighborhood to weather to the owners
very unique vision will profoundly effect the outcome of the script.
